Dr. Barbara Rabin, or Dr. B, specializes in helping people work through movement and health issues so that they can get back to whatever they love to do. She strives to empower each person to learn how to "fix themselves" by emphasizing patient education and self-treatment.
Dr. B practices physical therapy at her onsite private outpatient integrative physical therapy practice in Cleveland, OH for most of the year. For the months of February - May, Barbara will be seeing patients near Sarasota, Florida. However, she is always available via Telehealth for both locations of OH and FL via a secure and private EMR platform.
Barbara is a certified yoga therapist - and offers a ? holistic person centered? approach. She uses the BPSS assessment and treatment model in her practice. This model addresses the Biological/nutritional, Psychological/intellectual, Social/emotional, and Spiritual/energetic needs of a patient as it relates to a disease or injury. This method can involve a personalized functional movement assessment (FMA) which includes the wisdom of Ayurveda (science of life) which is the "sister science" of yoga.
Working with the premise that "food is medicine," nutritional needs, food habits & digestive health are usually addressed. Body or joint pain is often caused by inflammation, and this inflammation can begin in the gut or digestive tract. Barbara can recommend changes in the diet with foods or supplements to help with the healing process.
Dr. B's main modality of choice is the John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Method. She has been practicing this healing modality since 2010 with amazing results. The ability for JFB-MFR method to decrease pain and improve function is unparalleled. Barbara has taken and repeated most of the courses offered in this method as of 2021.
Dr. Barbara Rabin combines her many years of competitive running & triathlon - her knowledge of nutrition, brain health, orthopedics, sports medicine, weight training, medical yoga, movement, pain science, brain rehabilitation, sensory integration, polyvagal theory, myofascial release, medical massage, dry needling, micro-current, CranioSacral therapy, music/listening therapies & more to create the ultimate personalized healing protocol for each patient.
Dr. B is a licensed physical therapist (1990), licensed athletic trainer (1991), a Jivasara yoga teacher - 200 hours (2008), a Professional Yoga Therapist (PYT) - 700 hours (2016), a Usai Holy Fire Karuna Reiki master (2017), & a is clinical Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) through A.T. Still University (2018).
Barbara has three adult children with her husband Michael. She enjoys trail running with her dogs, gardening, cycling, yoga, music, dancing, good food & spending time with friends and family.
