Nicole began her career as an engineer. She graduated from Northeastern University, Magna Cum Laude in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. After starting her full time job as an engineer, she decided to attend massage school during the evenings as a personal interest. Nicole graduated from SpaTech in Ipswich in December, 2005 and opened her tiny, one room Skin to Soul Massage in January 2006. Massaging most evenings after her engineering job, she grew her practice easily. After about 4 years and much thought, Nicole took the leap and decided to follow her true passion and become a massage therapist full time.Nicole completed John F. Barnes Myofascial I, II and unwinding courses in Sedona in February, 2011. She became very focused on myofascial work and transitioned to mostly Myofascial work in February, 2012. She realized a life long dream when she decided to expand her massage business into a Self Improvement Center in September, 2011. She continued with her MFR coursework after opening her center. She is an Expert Level MFR Therapist and mentors her 18 other therapists at her clinic. She has repeated all of John's courses. She has also travelled the United States instructing with John Barnes and his staff.  Nicole's passion is growth and progression. She is dedicated to giving her clients results and a different way of approaching life.

Owner of Skin to Soul Somerville (Available for booking in Somerville Location Only)

After a career in education and human service work, I decided to shift my professional focus to holistic healing. I graduated from the Massage School in Boston. Now through bodywork, I can combine my different passions and lead my clients on a path towards wellness.

My intention for massage is to help my clients find balance and relief within their bodies. By developing a rapport through strong communication, together we will create a plan for effecting change, whether its a relaxation massage or releasing tension through trigger point work. I create a nurturing environment and ensure my clients comfort by approaching each session with the utmost care and respect.

Among other hobbies I enjoy yoga, running, and cycling. I completed my first marathon in 2015, and in 2018 I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail.

Owner of Skin to Soul Newton (Available for booking in Newton Location Only)

My purpose is to Heal. My whole life I have learned to help others. My audience is the whole world one soul at a time. Anyone who is in pain or suffering I welcome to relax and heal through a blend of bodywork. Healing to me encompasses the senses. To me there are 3 ways to tap into the soul. Musically, physically, and from our roots (in nature)

Through the Boy Scouts I did so physically and emotionally volunteering; ranging from building and maintaining hiking trails, recycling, and organizing concerts to perform for local nursing homes. I continue to play and perform music today. The Boy Scouts also gave me a close relationship with nature. I believe escaping to nature is crucial to heal both physically and emotionally.

I received the Rank of Eagle Scout in 2002. Performed at the Lincoln Center in NYC. Graduated from Contiva institute formerly MTI. I continue to study massage and am well versed in Gradual deep tissue work. I am an Intuitive healer who blends energy healing with MFR, DT and sports modalities to get down to the source.

People shouldnt merely listen to me. But feel the work, release what needs to leave and listen to their truth to move forward.

Im proud of my clients who have learned to listen to their bodies. Helping themselves is the first step to healing the world. We are all on the same path just finding our way up the mountain. I am serious, yet silly. I am passionate to heal but really try to feel the vibe with each moment and understand when some good laughter is best too.

I began this work in 2010: orthoscopic surgery on one of my knees served as a tipping point, creating a cascade effect on the structure of my body, my fascia compensation forced each part of my body to solidify into a piece of chronic, pain-filled concrete. The only thing giving me some relief for a few hours at a time were yoga classes taught by a master yoga teacher who was teaching through fascia. I would research fascia and would find my future mentor, John F. Barnes. I called his seminar department to learn how to begin study and was told that I needed a license to touch. I told them, Ill be right back. I picked the phone back up and enrolled in a massage therapy program through Cortiva Boston.

Just over a year later, I was at my first 4-day seminar with John. And just through practicing techniques and engagement of the fascia, I felt hopeful. I would come home and chart my study with John by scheduling seminars every few months to stay connected to the practice, language, study, and energy of this work. I would put myself on the table for study through receiving treatment whether weekly, biweekly, monthly, or in an intensive manner of 15 hours over the course of 5 days. Through treatment, I would constantly be amazed at the fascias memory. Sometimes, I would feel my fascia process the repetitive motions of field hockey that contributed to a torsion through the pelvis. Other times, I would taste the metallic chemicals of the inhaler I had used for a very short time when diagnosed with asthma as a young person, or the taste of Novocain from my visits to the dentist. Periodically, I would pause and notice how far I had come until one day I noticed that the pain had fully let go of me.

This work is amazing in relieving and extinguishing chronic pain I have lived it, and I see it each time I work with a client. It is amazing how deeply this work can open up space for the deeper systems of the body to work more effectively and free up breathing, the cardiovascular system, the immune system, digestion to name a few. Clients have shared that they feel lighter, taller, freer, no longer have pain. Sometimes a client will share that they had an epiphany about something they were scared to do that they no longer fear.

As an Expert level myofascial therapist, I am grateful to have studied with John repeatedly through his seminars. In the last 4.5 years, I have practiced and instructed at his clinics in Arizona and in Pennsylvania, and as part of his national seminar team. As of 2020, I returned to Massachusetts to be closer to family and friends and am excited to join the Skin to Soul family of clients and practitioners.

I started my career in 1995 with a degree in massage and physical therapy from the University of Granada in Spain. I moved stateside several years ago and received my license in massage to continue treating people with manual therapy in the Boston area.

My first approach to myofascial therapy started 10 years ago utilizing the myofascial induction using the Andrzej Pilat method. Once here in the US, I became certified by John F. Barnes in Myofascial Release I, Myofascial Release II, and Unwinding.

When working with patients, I first attempt to determine the cause of their discomfort and provide not only treatment but also guidance on how to improve their condition. When patients know the cause of their problem, they will become more actively involved in their own healing. Building this therapist-patient partnership is one of the most exciting elements of my work. Over the years, I have benefitted from leading an active lifestyle by swimming, biking, and minimalist running and was drawn to myofascial release, massage, and physical therapy so I could help others lead healthy, pain-free lives. Since starting this profession I have treated over 10,000 patients, and think physical activity, nutrition, and myofascial release therapy are fundamental to good health.

Individuals of all ages, abilities, and disabilities can experience the benefit of myofascial release. I have extensive experience treating athletes, those with sedentary jobs, patients with post-operative conditions, individuals with chronic pain, or those with stress or sports injuries.

There is nothing better than seeing a patient who has regained their full range of motion with no pain and is able to participate fully in all areas of their life!
